The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Elm Company

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed today, the 28th of Shawwal 1438 H corresponding to the 12th of July 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding with Elm company, the leading digital solutions company. This occurred during the presence of His Excellency Haytham AlOhali, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, at the company’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The agreement was signed by Ahmed Altheneyan, the Ministry’s Under-Secretary for Technology and Digital Capabilities, and was signed by Dr. AbdulRahman AlJadhai on behalf of Elm company. 
The MoU is considered a great move aimed at developing local content, building national cadres, enhancing the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, and raising the digital awareness level.
For his part, Eng. Haytham AlOhali has praised the Ministry’s strong relationship with Elm, which he described as one of the most significant partnerships in all of KSA due to its compliance with the government’s directives to upgrade the local content of the sector. His Excellency also applauded Elm for its major contributions to enhancing the digitization concept, and for fulfilling its duty toward the society by reinforcing the concept of the Digital Citizen. Eng. AlOhali also expressed that this agreement is the result of having the digital transformation as the main pillar of Saudi Vision 2030, which includes specific plans and initiatives needed to enhance the infrastructure, develop the digital talents, and sponsor the digital economy in the Kingdom.
His Excellency also stated that the Ministry’s work plan for 2020 involves concentrating on the development of human capital capabilities, and increasing the job opportunities in the communications and information technology sector by training 20 thousand national cadre, and creating 20 thousand job opportunities of various fields within the sector. These fields include emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, The Internet of Things, and Robotics.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Elm Company, Dr. AbdulRahman AlJadhai, has asserted that this agreement is part of Elm’s desire to contribute to the enrichment of the local content in the communications and information technology sector through the provision of products and services in the field of communications and information technology and in digital fields in general. Dr. AlJadhai also stressed Elm’s intent to establish a digital innovation center “Elm Center for Innovation”, and pointed out that due to the significance of digitization as an enabler to Saudi Vision 2030, and in line with Elm’s strategic objectives aiming to facilitate digital solutions and support national innovators and entrepreneurs of all fields, the center work will focus on backing the culture of innovation, supporting entrepreneurs, and developing advanced projects (like AI, Data Analytics, IoT, etc..), where the center will act as an admission portal that receives digital transformation services and solutions from the Kingdom and the Middle East.
